Good for them and good on the Cowboys.

While I think cheerleaders are one of those things from an older time that’s just barely hanging on - the Cowboys cheerleaders are still recognized as the top cheerleading team. Pretty cool story

I mean, they're not a focal point like they were in the 70s, but they're not fading or going anywhere any time soon.

As a fraction of the sport itself, absolutely, but they probably have more of their own fans in 2026 than ever before because they entered the reality tv genre. Their fans are mostly women now, too, which is more sustainable revenue for their own brand instead of only being a part of the Cowboys brand.

The Netflix show is genuinely good. It is filmed like an actual docuseries and not an exploitive mid-aughts reality show. It showcases the sacrifices, bad working conditions, and low pay that the cheerleaders put up with, and how they organized and demanded better. Those women are awesome, absolute respect for them and what they do.

I believe some of the production talent behind the Netflix show also did Last Chance U and Cheer, which were both shot similarly and both really good

Hope they see this, buddy

What is wrong with what they said exactly?

Edit: nvm. I see you're one of the ones who hides their post history. Troll confirmed lol

How’s that boot taste

The netflix show was a hit too and unironically pretty good

Though I also watched "making the team" growing up so i'm biased

But have you watched this movie?

Is that the one with Debbie?

The Cowboys make a bajillion dollars and can easily pay them. I know in the past some of the cheerleaders had to work multiple jobs because the pay was so low.

It’s obviously worth it to Jerry to keep them since he agreed, good move

Franchises across the entire league are committing wage theft by making these cheerleaders go to unpaid events as ambassadors, which essentially is unpaid overtime. If you factor in the overtime, a lot of times, its LESS than minimum wage.

Half the time the concession stands are run by volunteers. The amount of grift that goes on in professional sports is truly insane.

Don’t forget the physical requirements. Hair, makeup, skincare, nails, lashes, lips, waxing, gym memberships, nutrition…

Hell, I’m relatively low maintenance, and I spend $90-$150 a month.

Yes, some of it can be “operating costs” of being a cheerleader. But it’s wild that these women are employed by billion dollar orgs and not allowed to take a Sephora sponsorship so that their makeup is covered for a year. Or have it paid.

The Cowboys make a bajillion dollars and can easily pay them

this is basically always a terrible argument for why someone should get money

even elon musk would be broke in an hour if he followed this logic for all those people

17. u/vhalember · 2026-10-23 19:42 UTC

Really? Have you even performed basic math?

Let me help you out.

Elon's companies employ 160k workers. He could give every one of his workers $1,000,000 and still be worth $840 BILLION.

18. u/senderi · 2026-10-23 19:45 UTC

I'm no Elon fan but this shows a complete fundamental misunderstanding of the value of his wealth.

19. u/IKindaPlayEVE · 2026-10-23 19:56 UTC

No, no, you don't understand, he has a giant Scrooge McDuck money bin with 1 trillion US dollars in it.

20. u/pargofan · 2026-10-23 19:51 UTC

Elon is exceptional and the AI bubble creates some huge bubbles.

FedEx employs 530k workers.

The Fred Smith heirs were worth $6B.

If they paid all those workers $1,000,000, they would owe $524B.
