If we trade this man I’m going to cry

You will trade him. And you will get a CMC draft pick package for him. And you will like it.
((And I will hate it because it’ll probably be to the Seahawks))

I highly doubt Jonathan Taylor, who will be 28 this next January, will fetch the same trade package that a 26 year old CMC got in 2022. CMC was younger, is a prolific receiving back, and was on a cheaper extension that is easier to offload than Taylor. I don’t see the Colts getting a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th round pick. Also don’t think Seattle will trade for a RB. They just drafted Jadarian Price in the first round, declined to pay Kenneth Walker, and have Zach Charbonnet coming off injury.

Taylor is FAR healthier than CMC ever was or has been

And yet, McCaffrey has more games played and total yards from scrimmage since 2022.
I love Taylor, but this is delusion.

It’s not delusion. I’m talking my pre 2022 cmc

Ah, yes, I forgot that "ever was or has been", actually means "only this stretch of time I made up in my mind".

Bringing up the guy's history at the time the trade was made is more than fair. Carolina CMC was a great back when healthy that was never healthy. His health record on the 49ers has been miraculous in comparison to what expectations would have been at that time

Goddammit. Don’t be that guy. I’m saying Carolina panthers CMC was always hurt.

He hasn’t been particularly healthy as a 49er most of the time. Over their careers, CMC has missed 24% of his games compared to 15% for Taylor.
11. u/TheAgmis · 2026-10-22 19:49 UTC
But CMC fully took off as a 49er. Took that next step. 2024 was an anomaly for him.

That’s a bit of the pot calling the kettle black. You cherry picked a few years where he missed fewer games than Taylor. Over their careers, CMC has missed 24% of his games compared to Taylor’s 15%.

You're a fucking asshole and a moron. That's not what he was saying at all and we all followed it. Got your rocks off with your snarky reply though didn't ya.

Lol ok. Real well adjusted individual here
15. u/idnttcrisis · 2026-10-22 19:27 UTC
Sure, but he has his age, contract, and lack of two-way ability working against him. I’d personally love to try to trade for Jonathan Taylor.
16. u/BBBBrendan182 · 2026-10-22 19:32 UTC
He’s not on CMCs level of receiving ability, but he’s not so bad that it’s a knock on him. He’s more than capable of running routes and catching balls. He’s not Derrick Henry
I also don’t think a 2 year age gap is that significant.
The contract though, yeah that’s a value killer

I’d argue two years with Taylor’s volume of touches so far in his career is a definite negative. It’s good that he has not been injured much, but that’s still a negative to me. Also, while Taylor is a competent receiver, he’s closer to 1 than to the 10 that is CMC on a scale of receiving backs. His best receiving season was last year: 46 receptions, 378 receiving yards, and 2 TD in 17 games started. CMC’s worst receiving season in a healthy season has been: 67 receptions, 564 receiving yards, and 7 TD in 2023.

Taylor was often subbed out for Hines as a change of pace back earlier in his career. So most of the passing situations favored Hines. To some extent, that still happens, but not near as much as it used to. He's been used a lot in the passing game lately... especially since the right side of the line is not playing well and the boxes are being stacked.

For running backs, two years is very significant. The decline usually begins around 30 or slightly before

iirc historically by stats the decline for rbs starts after 27
