Welcome to today's open thread, where /r/nfl users can discuss anything they wish not related directly to the NFL.
Want to talk about personal life? Cool things about your fandom? Whatever happens to be dominating today's news cycle? Do you have something to talk about that didn't warrant its own thread? This is the place for it!
Remember, that there are other subreddits that may be a good fit for what you want to post - every day all day!

I retire at the end of the month. The days are moving really slowly for me.

Keep your head on a swivel. I've seen many times people get taken out just days away from retirement.

Congrats!
Can I ask why you made all those Popeyes comments?

Congratulations! Have any plans for afterwards yet?

Taking the entire family to the Jets game on 11/8. After that, I will decompress for a couple of months at my cabin in the Ozark Mountains. I think sitting and staring at a fire in the fireplace for a month or so should be good for my mental health.

Congrats! As someone who is semi-retired it feels great. Have you thought of how you'll be spending your time?

Thank you! I will be taking care of my 88-year-old mother and my wife, and I will finish building our cabin.

do people really "retire" anymore?
my neighbor retired and he's more busy than before.
12. u/Deep_Two_2341 · 2026-10-21 14:48 UTC
That will also apply to me. I use "retire" because I am no longer bound to a job, a schedule, or even a calendar. Still wrapping my head around this.

$47 to fill my tank.
So much fucking winning.
edit because people are asking: I drive a Jeep. 12-gallon tank.
17. u/Mac_Jomes · 2026-10-21 16:01 UTC
But Iran will never have a nuclear weapon isn't $47 worth it for that? (Please ignore the fact that the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the guy they killed at the start of the war, issued a fatwa calling nukes haram in the '90s so they weren't trying for nukes anyways)
18. u/AfroManHighGuy · 2026-10-21 15:53 UTC
Paid $45 for a full tank in my tiny ass Corolla smh.
19. u/DiggingNoMore · 2026-10-21 15:55 UTC
Small tank or below average gas price? Just cost me $60 yesterday to fill mine (13 gallons at $4.54).
20. u/SoyeonsNeverland · 2026-10-21 15:57 UTC
I paid $40 for my 10 gallon tank in a Yaris. I paid not even $25 years ago.
We are fucking winning hard, y'all.
