Chicago Bears & Khalil Mack Reunion Speculation Intensifies After NFL Insider Report

Could the Chicago Bears reunite with one-time star Khalil Mack? One NFL insider believes the move makes a ton of sense.
The Bears head into a big Thursday Night Football matchup against the New England Patriots with a 4-2 record and having won three of their last four. Unfortunately, they have the bad luck of being in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL, the NFC North. And despite a good start to the season, they are two games behind the unbeaten Minnesota Vikings in the division.
With some big divisional matchups still to come, you can never have enough talent, and the Bears have been linked to various trade rumors over the last couple of weeks. One interesting name that has been popping up a bit more recently in connection with Chicago is Mack.
After four seasons with the Raiders , Mack came to the Bears in 2018 and was a Pro Bowler in three of his four seasons in Chi-Town. However, in 2022, the franchise decided to move on from the star linebacker to shift gears and begin a rebuild. Well, according to Jason La Canfora, the Bears' defense lacks "bite," and a reunion with Mack would bring Chicago what they need to compete with the beasts of the NFC North.
"The Bears got franchise quarterback Caleb Williams back from injury. They have a few weeks to see what that looks like before the deadline. But the unit clearly lacks bite and has been turnover-dependent, and Mack is a player they know well from his time there ," La Canfora suggested on Wednesday.
Mack is playing on an expiring contract , and with the Los Angeles Chargers off to a 0-6 start, there is a growing expectation that they will be big-time sellers before the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline. While he is no longer in his prime, he is just three years removed from a 17-sack season. A trade that sends LA a third-rounder should probably be enough to complete a trade for the nine-time Pro Bowler.
