[Highlight] Patriots HC Mike Vrabel, asked about his $250,000 fine for conduct toward officials, says it was meant to remain private and was not supposed to be leaked. “I think it’s best to talk to the league. They seem to have plenty to say already about it.”

He wouldn’t be dealing with that if he’d cut off his penis

He also leaked something he shouldn’t have

He was a defensive player, so he knows something about filling c-gaps

$250k for criticizing a call? Yeesh, is that normal?

This is why coaches never directly speak out, even when there's some pretty obvious bad calls. They get massive fines for daring to question the integrity of the shield

People insulted McVay for coming out of the game going “I’m not ready to comment on that yet” like the league isn’t financially incentivizing him to say that

I get it though. There's an internal way to argue and fight over poor officiating without running to the press to damage the integrity of the League. Just because that process isn't available for public scrutiny doesn't mean it isn't happening.
If coaches were allowed to criticize officiating then it would become the primary topic of every post-game interview.

running to the press to damage the integrity of the League
This is the wording owners want us to keep using. Let's stop doing that.
Fans watch the game and see the bullshit calls directly. That is what is ruining the integrity of the league, not coaches calling it out. By saying 'coaches shouldn't say that' we're shifting the blame away from the refs (aka the league).
If they really cared about 'protecting the integrity of the league' they would make cleaning up officiating a major point of emphasis and invest in the things it would take to correct it (more refs per game? better technology for making calls? etc. - idk what the answer is but the NFL doesn't appear to think this is a top priority so they don't actually care about improving the product for fans).
