The NFL hasn’t done such a great job either. They cleared everyone of wrongdoing before an actual investigation could reasonably be completed.

Well, when the NFL’s CMO was reportedly a part of the consultation in London, it certainly doesn’t help the optics either

Yes but we are furious when you fuck up and you’d better never even mention our obvious and horrible mistakes -The NFL, probably (and most companies with their employees for that matter)

Not much to investigate. The NFL already had the medical records. They had protocols, they were involved in London.

I always hate this argument. At the end of the day a player is out for the year, potentially for his career because he developed blood clots on his lungs.

An investigation doesn't have to be for the sake of finger pointing. It can be a full evaluation of the standard and protocols in place and determine if there was any opportunity to improve the process that could have prevented this from happening.

Everyone is so drama centric these days that we’ve actually forgotten the point of an investigation lol. Nearly every protocol in existence came to be because something went wrong and there was an investigation to determine what can prevent that in the future. The vast majority of them didn’t result in anybody being directly to blame, though.

You’re not wrong but investigation now comes with that connotation. I feel like inquiry or research is a bit better for that.

I prefer the good old we're just having a lookie look

A good ol fashioned whaddawe have here

Yeah and that’s what should be done, but that might indicate there’s an inherent excess danger that comes with overseas travel mid season, and the NFL isn’t going to like that.

I think people are saying that if this was the protocol, it needs to be changed in the future to better protect players.

What is there to investigate? They know the standard procedure for SVT and were involved in the process. Assuming the diagnosis wasn't botched (unlikely) everything was done according to protocol. Hurts just got very unlucky.

There’s so much misinformation about this thanks to twitter, so people just assume something wrong happened.

14. u/MikeTysonChicken · 2026-10-26 16:06 UTC

Even Pelissaro tweeting Hurts played after being awake 36 consecutive hours which ended up being false

15. u/cheesecakeaficionado · 2026-10-26 18:03 UTC

That tweet should have been the first indication that no one knew what was going on because anyone with any sense of a medical background could immediately tell you such a recommendation from a licensed physician is straight up bullshit to actually believe as true when it comes to VTE management.

But of course things just keep snowballing from there.

Even in the linked article it lists "let Hurts fly to London" as something to be investigated when it has already been well established the clot was not caught until he was already in London (if you want to question why he was allowed to fly back, go ahead). Everybody has taken the first information they got and stamped it in their head and run with it in the most dramatic way possible.

He should’ve applied for British citizenship. He can remain on the roster and play one game every four years the Eagles play in Europe.

He won’t need to fly to France from England, he can take the train.

We have a franchise QB, but I can't introduce you because he's European. My Canadian girlfriend would vouch for me if she were around.

I think what chaps my ass most about the way search engines and social media work now with algorithms and whatever else...is how fucking difficult it is to dig into something as soon as it's popular.

Oh, you want to see what the original thing was with all of this? Well, bad news...the first 5 pages of your Google results are all social media posts and articles referencing the topic capped off by an AI summary that's not helpful either.

“Journalists” and Twitter have unfortunately decided to ignore facts for this whole situation and they’re desperate to be outraged about something
